JC life is so tiring. i guess i'm too used to having a permanent classroom and seating my comfortably in one position all the time.... why didn't anyone teach me to treausre it?

orientation was fun!! ours is the longest, like 8 days... stretched over 2 weeks. rocks :)

TURBO CHARGED

a pity i didn't capture many shots during the orientation like, of the dances and the general on goings and whatnots. but supposedly there are lots on youtube. so go check it out if interested;)

OG 38 =) not everyone here though, the water polo guys were at training. so there's about 3 or 4 more people

OG was short lived, but pretty memorable nonetheless. thank you all for those times!

one of the most fun-filled moments was war games i must say, which was dirty business indeed. a pity i have no photos, but i was soaking and covered in starch mud grass dirt and it was so disgusting about a few hundred students went home to bathe after the games then came back again after. well artemis came in 2nd. neverminddddddd, we only lost by a couple of drops. congrats athena :)

fastforward to.. campfire!

it was raining cats and dogs the whole day and they had to execute their wet weather plan, but it was just as great!

anyway random photos. had an hour break before campfire with nothing to do

tingyu --> xiang1 xia4 ren2

class flag!

big foot.

S65 =)

school's great lets hope it continues to stay that way!!

'who's gonna win gonna win gonna win?'

we're gonna win gonna win gonna win.

sniff, i wonder...

though i try hard no to

ok second post! this time its on the tour to grand canyon/las vegas. picture here is london bridge! the coach ride was REALLY long, so we had to stop by laughlinat night before getting to the canyon the next day. laughlin is the 4th biggest gambling city in US. i could already feel that gambling spirit around because the first thing i saw when i entered the hotel was slot machines, pokers table, large wheels(those you throw the ball on and it lands on a number) and some bargirl wannabe old ladies wearing mini skirts and clad in black walking around serving drinks. the smoke was killing me at the lobby so we checked in really fast.
<--- laughlin! we had dinner at the hotel and it was REALLY lousy. mcdonalds pwns them big time. but there was a medium sized outlet nearby so we spent the rest of our free time there.... and then we had the earliest morning wake up call we ever had in our lives. 345am. gosh, is this tour or torture?they wanted to get there ASAP, because daylight only lasts till 4plus pm or so. on board the coach while everyone was fast asleep and snoring away, i decided to spend the time looking out into the night view. there were at least a million stars in the sky! very very very beautiful! =) when you go there, be sure to look out at night, its jawdroppingly gorgeous :D GRAND CANYON (need i say more, no adjectives can ever describe its grandeur magnificence and inexplicable beauty)
the snow more or less melted so we had to be careful whilst walking near the edge of the viewing front. take a wrong step and you'll fall miles deep into canyon and goodness knows who will rescue you. a pity we only got the see the south part of it, which means no river. i did not find any remnants of anything marine like in that vast open landscape. merely dry hard red rock, beautifully arranged in layers that combed the lofty terrain! why don't we have such resplendently awe inspiring scenery locally? even the surrouding scenery, mountains and all, pwnz bukit timah hill and mount faber by about a
gazillion. (that's the largest value i know, anyone who knows a larger one edit for me thanks)
so we travel one day one night to this world wonder and after spending an hour plus we scurry away and head for our next destination : Las Vegas! throw in your dices everyone
as we all know it, Las Vegas is indeed the largest gambling city in the world. they even have slot machines OUTside the toilet, in front of the concierge's desk, everywhere in EVERY hotel. its ridiculous! i wonder how to the kids there study. and something else i found really interesting; LV had those litte chapels with simple decos by the streets. and they are no ordinary chapels. they are marriage chapels, having a 24/7 drivethrough. all you have to do is to pay US $55, and tada, you're married. though yanny says the marriage usually only lasts 55 hours. ha, oh well....but interesting nonetheless :P

the hotels were reallyreally well refurbished, i can safely say most are 5 or 6 star hotels. most are not just hotels, but hotel/casino/shoppin centre. each hotel had its own special feature, for instance the blow glass lights at the rio, and many others i can't remember.

it was a really tiring night, thankfully the wake up call the next day was only at 8.

after that it was back to LA. alright end of 2nd post:)

ouch i have only been on the comp for half and hours and i feel as though my eyes are going to pop out.

ouch! ok nvm a quick post.
our acad orientation's over! aww so sad we'll be with our Ct groups next week. excluding the boring subj lectures and briefings at the student welfare and development and affective education people and whatnot i think i had a very good time. with alot of laughing involved, and even now sometimes i think of those funny stuff i mysterioulsy break into peals of laughter and all i get is a peculiar stare from my mum as if spelling on her face(are you mad?)

LOL but it's mainly private jokes. so i can't tell them here hahahahahah

anyway to my other wonderful exschoolmates in other JCs i am sure you all are having a great time! the peeps here are doing well! so don't worry about us!
ack i feel like sleeping.
looking forward to sch on monday! hope i don't get a boring CT group ahhhhhhh

heyhey today's orientation was fun =)

most of today and yesterday were mainly acad briefings though, they are horribly boring but fortunately i have val peiwen and cheryl to entertain me and keep me awake. even if you want to sleep, your head might just fall off the chair anytime because it is plastic and so horribly un-sleep-friendly. i am not tall neither do i have a long body but when i lie on the table (those foldable tables that comes with the chairs) my forehead is already dangling in the air so that shows how squashed up the chairs are. besides, mr ang may randomly single you out and scold you for not carrying the hwachong name well.
i miss mg's audi's comfycomfy chairs where i could lie in any direction and switch to screensaver mode 24/7 :(:(

but well i suppose the briefings are mandatory no matter how arid and how you can't keep yourself from making 10 stifles a second. like cca and stuff they really tell you what is going and how the system works and all. so oh well, and they should be over very soon =)

the afternoons were always fun! well we have song and dance sessions which can get pretty cheena and cheesy but it's not too bad really. games wins the best part of the day award

yesterday was ice breakers and was pretty dead shan't talk about it.
today was good! ahhh we played this game whereby we had to tie balloons to each others limbs, and when the game starts charge out like bulls to burst the other team's balloons.
and we had one where we had to line up holding onto each other's shoulders and prevent getting tapped by the other team and getting each other's items at the same time.
the other we had to pass water from a pail down the line. we were all given a plastic cup and we could not hold it with our limbs. that leaves our mouths, i shall not elaborate on that.

well OG 38 we didn't win any games today but i think you all did a great job and i am really happy to see us work more like a team :) i feel more team spirit today and i think it's really sad that we will not be in this group anymore after this week of acad orientation, but i do hope we continue to bond and i hope to get to know all of you better. kudos to all of you! :):)

looking forward to sch tomorrow! ok maybe excluding the learning about college history part

happy new year to everyone out there!
a new year has arrived once again. i vividly remember how it went last year, 2006 seemed a luminous sign of fatigue anxiety fear as i already foresaw a busy and hectic year having loads of events up my sleeve.

but this year's a little different, more of a new beginning, experiences, adventures, markings of a new phase of life, not as much anxiety, but perhaps sanguine and a tinge of curiousity.

i had a great holiday! the highlight would be my trip to america, a 14 day trip including a day plus on the plane (its 17 hours to LA excluding transit btw) and i'd very much like to blog about it so that i can remember it well =)

overall, a reall expensive trip. we spent alot of money! to me its alot at least. food alone could cost a bomb. a normal breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, sausages, pancakes could already cost up to 7 or 8 US dollars (about 11-12 sing dollars). you know what i mean
now i am comtemplating if i should blog about the full 14 days in one post, of a few. i've read about other people's holidays on their blog and even a trip lasting a few days can make my eyes pop out. maybe i'll break it into 3 or 4 posts.

the flight there was pretty good, perhaps excitement contributed to part of it.
on board SQ028 i met this REAALLYREAAALLY cute little boy. he is so...... handsome!!!!!!!!!!

he looks CUTER in real life btw. and he was so friendly! he kept turning back to talk to me. the picture above is him opening a sweet for me. :D :D :D i love you owen!!!!!

the LAX airport was pretty disappointing i must say. well unlike changi, there are no shops (except perhaps 1 or 2 selling bottled mineral bottle at US $2 and of course the indispensable money changer). the arrival hall was really small(though my dad tells me its just the 1 of 7 arrival halls, because LAX airport has 7 terminals), and not the least well furbished.. everywhere was just dull in colour with no carpeted floors and no automatic walkways at all. the only nice thing was that the officers were pretty friendly. their security is really tight! everyone above 14 has to have their photo taken for identity purposes, fingerprint too of course.
after exchanging for some US currency and taking some time to find the person who was supposed to pick us from the airport, off we went.

US currency!

LA was rather disappointing; i expected a really bustling city (what i always thought of america) but insteated what confronted me was really vast, dark roads (it was 6 plus by then) with some single levelled detached houses, some eating places (mostly fastfood), dimmed street lights, trees with hardly any leaves, like some really huge town with few inhabitants. there were many cars on the road though, like ALOT. more than the number on orchard road during peak hours. all those headlights were like many pairs of eyes staring at you.
we were jetlagged the first night, i woke up at least 3 times during my sleep.

our first stop; universal studios!

wasn't too excited about going there at first because i've already been to the one in osaka, but not too bad, it did not disappoint me. the only obstacle to a fun-filled day was the horribly cold weather ( ok maybe more my body, by then fully accustomed to s'pore's tropical humid weather) that got me shivering most of the time. temperature was a single digit degree.
so it was the usual, ridesridesrides. ok more educational rides than thrill rides actually. we got on the studio tour that brought us to see all the stages where the hollywood stars rehearsed and all. and we saw manymany sets! for all different kinds of movies and TV shows. i saw the set for gabrielle's house(desperate housewives) and they specially built little buildings to make it seem like little europe, so in hollywood when you see a place that looks like europe, it's actually universal studios! cooooool. there was thrill rides like mummy returns and jurassic park, and you get the -your heart is going to fly out- feeling as usual, in jurassic park you plunge 8 storeys down and mummy returns has plunges backwards. the others were mainly stunt-like stuff like backdraft etc the rest i cannot remember. i didn't take back to the future, there was no time. took it in osaka though... i remember queuing an hour for it and was really disappointed to find it just a stimulator.

i was really tired that day because of the jet lag, so it was quite good having those activities that kept my adrenaline going so i could stay awake. slept well that night.

ok DISNEYLAND i sound naive and childish but i love disneyland! maybe you think its kiddish but i think its a wonderfulwonderful place! everything about it is so nice... the little candy shops, the adventure rides, the cool decos, the people carolling and giving out candy, the crowd even during low season, the little cottages that make you feel like you're in a fairy tale, EVERYTHING is so sos sososososo niceee!

i loved every ride, indiana jones haunted mansion splash mountain star tours space mountain pirates and many more. i even liked the turkey leg that was so huge and fleshy it was filling enough to be lunch for my family of four. plus a large fries.
i thought it was pretty rushed there though. and disney was celebrating some sort of anniversary, i forgot their age but they had some fantasimque thingy at night but it was extra US $10 per person so we decided to go back and reserve the money for shopping :D

alrighty your eyes must be popping out from all the reading so i'll just let the pictures do the talking!
sis on a spaceship :P
